Angels and Demons

YEAR: 2009 RATED: PG-13
Another best-selling novel by Dan Brown is brought to the screen as a cinematic sequel to The Da Vinci Code that came out a couple years ago. Tom Hanks, this time around, gives a more lively performance, and Ewan McGregor is added to the mix which really helps out the quality of the cast. Primarily taking place in Rome, Hanks leads a chase around the Eternal City trying to solve or prevent a series of murders and a plot to destroy Vatican City while a new Pope is being elected. Fitting all this action into a single movie was tough, and it felt a bit rushed at times, but still it's a quality thriller with great music, effects, and an overall fun time at the movies.

I enjoyed The Da Vinci Code but I felt the pace was a little slow. Director Ron Howard must have noticed as well because the sequel, Angels and Demons, starts off fast and never looks back. The film, which stars Tom Hanks, is a non-stop chase around Rome to help prevent the destruction of Vatican City. The film has some subtle changes from the novel, which improves the film in my opinion. Although there is not much character depth, I found Angels and Demons to be a very entertaining film and a slight improvement over the Da Vinci Code.
