Platoon

YEAR: 1986 RATED: R
In this gritty and violent Vietnam movie, I didn't find myself being emotionally attached to the film in the least bit. And that's a problem. Sure it has some fantastically authentic jungle war scenes, and a phenomenal cast, but it felt as though the narration and attempt at a moral lesson was quite forced and artificial. The bottom line is this movie brought nothing new to the "Vietnam movies" category. Personally I'd stick with other Vietnam movies that combined action with a credible, artistic, and emotional message that sticks, such as Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, and Good Morning Vietnam.
