Street Kings

YEAR: 2008 RATED: R
This is a respectable and gritty L.A. cop movie, starring Keanu Reeves and a bunch of other recognizable actors such as Forest Whitaker. It's a dark and brutal look into dirty cops, internal investigations, and enforcement on the street. While there are quite a few characters to remember, and twists to keep things interesting, I found it pretty easy to follow along and the overall cinematography and music helped to round this out into a quality flick. If you're in the mood for a modern day cop thriller, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one.

Street Kings is a gritty cup drama that has a solid cast including Keanu Reeves, Forrest Whitaker and a slew of other recognizable faces. Reeves stars as a "dirty cop" who follows his own rules, but is generally a good person. His character reminds me of Vic Mackey of The Shield. This film is violent, engaging and full of twists that really keep you interested from start to finish. Whitaker, as always, brings his A game as the Police Chief. Although far from a classic, Street Kings is an entertaining winner and is a strong entry into the cop genre.
