Taken

YEAR: 2009 RATED: PG-13
Liam Neeson leads a surprisingly good movie about a father who uses his "ex-spy" skills to track down his daughter's kidnappers in Europe. The movie might be short on thought-provoking substance and has its share of "lucky" twists that helps Neeson in his quest, but that doesn't diminish the effect. It's almost non-stop "Jason Bourne" type action and it really has you on the edge of your seat until the end. No Oscar winner, but if you're in the mood for a quality modern day spy/action flick, this one is for you.

Taken is a relatively straightforward film that takes off early and never looks back. Liam Neeson stars as a former CIA employee with "a special skill set" that really comes in handy when his daughter is kidnapped in Europe. Neeson spends the next 90 minutes tracking down the men who have kidnapped her. Although it's rather short, Taken is a real fun ride. Don't go in expecting an intriguing plot, but you should expect a Jason Bourne style, European chase/revenge film that is extremely entertaining. Who knew Liam Neeson could be such a badass?
